The circulation and parking of tourist buses in Florence are subject to specific regulations, identified by the "urban traffic plan" and governed by the BusPass system. The aim is to ensure the best compatibility between tourist visits to the city and the urban quality that citizens and tourists alike demand. These regulations are necessary to protect the city, its environment, its unique cultural heritage, and the quality of life for both citizens and visitors.

Online Permit Issuance for Bus Access to the ZTL Area

A service is available for the online issuance of permits and parking passes for bus access to the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone). To use this service and make payments online, follow the instructions in the technical regulations under point 3. To access the service, register on the portal https://servizionline.serviziallastrada.it/ar/registrazione.php. The service allows for the direct receipt of the authorization title in your email inbox as soon as payment is made. To register your bus, you must present the registration card and provide the following information: license plate number, ownership, length, type of motor (Euro 0,1,2,3,4,5, etc., methane, electric), or the relevant EU directive to which the engines are approved. Only after registration, validated by the back office, can the pass be issued or activated for online issuance.

Documentation Requirements for Permit Issuance

If required, the documentation necessary for permit issuance must be submitted to the back office EXCLUSIVELY through the telematic platform at least 3 days before the planned use of the permit. Within 2 working days of completing the procedure, if there are no exceptions from the competent office, it will be possible to use the online purchasing procedure from the web address https://servizionline.serviziallastrada.it/. Paid Parking Lots for Tourist Buses

The following UNATTENDED paid parking lots are reserved for tourist buses with permits:

  • Viale XI agosto parking lot at "Guidoni": 00-24 for owners of permits G, H, S, T, R, and 09:00-19:00 for owners of permit P in reserved spaces.
  • Piazzale Campioni del 56' - Primo Scudetto della Fiorentina parking lot: at the intersection with V.le Paoli in marked spaces on the ground 00-24 (the parking lot is not accessible during sporting events at the municipal stadium) for owners of permits G, H, S, T.
  • Via Palazzeschi parking lot: in the area at the corner with Via della Torre in marked spaces on the ground from 08:00 to 20:00 for owners of permits G, H, S, T, and R.
  • Viale Visconti Venosta parking lot: in marked spaces on the ground from 08:00 to 20:00.
  • P.le Galileo parking lot: in marked spaces on the ground from 08:00 to 20:00 for owners of permits G, H, S, T, and R; access to this parking area is allowed by passing through the following route: V.le Galileo - V.le Michelangiolo.

Reserved Bus Stops

The following RESERVED bus stops are available for tourist buses with permits G, H, S, and T:

  • V.le Ariosto: on the wall side near the intersection with Via dell'Orto, marked spaces on the ground 00-24 for PASSENGER PICKUP and DROPOFF (maximum parking time allowed is 10 minutes). Access to this stop is allowed by passing through Viale Ariosto.
  • P.zza Vittorio Veneto: in the stretch of road from the intersection with Ponte della Vittoria to the intersection with Lungarno Amerigo Vespucci, on the river side, marked spaces on the ground 00-24 for PASSENGER PICKUP and DROPOFF (maximum parking time allowed is 10 minutes).
  • Largo Vincenzo Giudice, next to the Finance Guard Barracks, marked spaces on the ground 00:00-24:00 for PASSENGER PICKUP and DROPOFF (maximum parking time allowed is 5 minutes), for buses providing transfer services to the S.M.N. railway station. The following are exempt from the regulations:

A. Buses providing urban and suburban public transport services on scheduled routes or services under Art. 13 L.R. n. 42/1998.

B. Buses belonging to the Police Forces, Armed Forces, owned by the Municipality of Florence, owned by the Province of Florence, owned by the Tuscany Region.

C. Buses providing substitute services for the railways or when the bus replaces a train due to problems on the railway line or the train itself. Parking is not allowed.

D. Empty buses parked in the garage within the municipal area for entry/exit from the garage itself provided with a specific "garage" permit, for which parking or stopping is not allowed.

E. Empty buses traveling to a workshop located within the ZTL Bus for technical assistance services. At the exit from the workshop, said buses must be provided with a declaration issued by the workshop certifying the work carried out. Parking is not allowed.
