Bergamo is a city located in the Lombardy region of Italy and is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. The city has a rich history and culture, with many interesting landmarks, museums, and historical sites to explore. For tour bus drivers arriving in Bergamo, the city provides useful information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for both the drivers and their passengers.

In this guide, we will provide information on the designated drop-off and pick-up points, parking areas, and other important details that tour bus drivers need to know when visiting Bergamo.

The City of Bergamo welcomes tour buses and their drivers and provides useful information to allow for easy access to the city. In order to ensure a pleasant stay, below are the details of where tour buses can stop briefly to drop off and pick up visitors to the city.

  1. Città Alta Access and transit are allowed exclusively for vehicles with a maximum height of 3.50 meters and without a trailer or tow. The drop-off and pick-up point is along Viale delle Mura, near Largo Colle Aperto. Adjacent toilets are available in Piazza Cittadella (€ 0.25).

  2. Città Bassa Access and transit are allowed for all vehicles. There are two drop-off and pick-up points:

a. At the lower funicular station square (vehicles without a trailer or tow), Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, 62. From here, visitors can reach Città Alta by taking one of the two historic funiculars or medieval stairs, which lead to the Venetian walls (15 minutes), or by taking public bus n.1. The tour bus can reach the Lower Funicular Station by traveling along Viale Roma. Visitors can purchase a cumulative ticket for groups and parties (minimum 10 people) directly at the Lower Funicular Station, which allows for a one-way trip and a return trip. The ticket is valid for urban bus routes and costs € 1.80; tour guides authorized by the Lombardy Region and the Province of Bergamo who accompany the group are entitled to free travel.

b. At the adjacent Bus Station next to the Urban Center-Tourist Office IAT, an ideal location for tourists who want to visit Città Bassa or access Città Alta by public bus Line 1. Toilets are available at the adjacent Bus Station on the 1st floor (€ 0.30).

After dropping off passengers, tour bus drivers are requested to park in the authorized parking area for daily parking on Via Grataroli.

Reminder Groups that choose to be accompanied by tourist guides during their visit to the city can only choose from those authorized by the Lombardy Region and the Province of Bergamo with an identification card displayed.

Conclusion Thank you for choosing to visit our city. We wish you a pleasant stay and look forward to your return.
